If you are in the market for a professional looking, ink-run proof DVD, look no further than the Taiyo Yuden Watershield DVD.
I immediately liked that the printable material went all the way to the hub. I felt the texture of the disc and noticed a very different feel from a typical ‘slick’ Ink-Jet printable disc.
One of the things I’ve always hated about ink- jet printing is their tendency to smear – especially when moisture is involved. So, I did a test print on the new CD. The image looked great – and it punched much like a glossy coating. I was impressed. So, I let it sit for 24 hours then took a journey down the hallway. Wanting to just skip to the meat of the test, I held it under a water fountain for about 10 seconds. I know – totally unfair.
However, the disc print held up. I then took my hand and started rubbing the ink — while still dripping water into the basin of the fountain from the surface – NO SMEARING.
I was impressed.
I was convinced. This is a nice disc, that does what it promises. You’ll pay a little bit of a premium for the quality, but all in all, it’s my current disc of choice for personal and professional projects.
I have also noticed no duplication failures and lower than normal customer returns from unreadable discs. This combined with print quality makes the decision a no-brainer for me.
If you are having issues with your inkjet disc prints – give these a try – I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
